SHOREliner – development of a climate-neutral fiber-composite aircraft with robust aerodynamic and STOL characteristics for use as a multipurpose commuter aircraft
As part of the project, in addition to the technical design of the aircraft itself, research and development are being conducted on innovations in the areas of natural-fiber-based composite materials and resins, automation solutions for the manufacture of composite parts, and flame-retardant systems. The development of climate-neutral, energy-efficient, and resource-conserving manufacturing processes, as well as an ecological life-cycle assessment, have been integral components of the overall project from the very beginning. In its subproject, the Institute for Polymer Materials and Plastics Technology is focusing on sustainable material and fire protection concepts for fiber-reinforced composite structures.
