Features
The institute has a wide range of equipment and software for the design, simulation, manufacturing, and analysis of fiber-reinforced composite and plastic components, as well as for the processing and characterization of plastics in general.
Our analytical capabilities offer a wide range of mechanical, thermal, and optical analysis methods. Here, plastics, fibers, and components can be comprehensively characterized and evaluated.
Various filament and resin printers form the basis of our additive manufacturing capabilities. These include the ability to perform multi-material printing, print filled plastics, produce “continuous components,” and print with micrometer-level precision. In addition, components can be digitized using the in-house 3D scanner and subsequently reproduced.
Our technical center houses several different injection molding machines, extruders, presses, and ovens. Here, thermoplastics can be processed into components, filaments, or granules. In addition, various manufacturing processes, such as the winding technique or the VARI process, offer possibilities for producing fiber-reinforced composite components made from natural, glass, or carbon fibers. Our in-house workshop also enables the precise machining of metals into turned and milled parts, allowing us to manufacture our own test equipment.
Various challenges require specialized software tools to solve them. Therefore, we use tools for simulation, design, and data management, and of course we also incorporate AI into our daily scientific work.
At our branch in Stade, we also have an extensive portfolio of equipment. Here, the focus is primarily on fiber-reinforced composite technology.
