The effect of plant processing from agricultural byproducts on the quality of processable fibers to ensure suitable production processes
Responsible: Kapfhammer, D.
High-quality products suitable for consumers are characterized not only by optimized processing but also by outstanding material quality. Particularly in the field of natural fibers, materials are subject to various conditions, causing their quality to fluctuate. Especially when using plant-based fiber materials, varying climatic conditions along the path from the field to processing can negatively affect the material. Even when considering relatively local logistics routes, ensuring high-quality fiber materials is a challenge; extending this to globally operating logistics requires a scaling-up of machinery and processes. The goal of this technically feasible project is to ensure quality assurance for fiber materials throughout the value chain up to the final processing step (fiber injection molding) and to analyze different fiber streams from agricultural byproducts in a system-specific manner.
